Handpicked Artists that
love to teach

With over 20 years of painting and teaching Sarah Stokes, co-owner of Olive & Plum Retreats has made friends with a raft of professional artists and creators at the top of their game.

Amongst them are a select number who are not only great artists but also fabulous teachers.

Sarah has been a student and knows firsthand how important it is to have a teacher who really cares about the experience that each participant gets. So often she would come back from a workshop berating herself for just “not getting it”. In fact over the multitude of workshops Sarah went to in the UK and overseas, only one stood out as a good course. Many of the artists, although excellent painters, were ill-prepared for teaching, often disengaged and unused to demonstrating to a variety of skill sets. There is a massive difference between a demonstrator and a teacher!

With this in mind,  we've hand picked a select few who have the skills and experience to deliver you the kind of workshops that will allow your skills to grow and your confidence to flourish. Nothing will replace practice, but our teachers will set you onto the next stage of your artistic journey with their wealth of experience, gentle encouragement and infectious enthusiasm.
